Sermon for Sunday Lent 4 — 30 March

March 31, 2014 Leave a comment

The text for the sermon Sunday was John 9:1-45.

Reports about the coach Glenn Hoddle can be found with simple searches.  I found the quote at BBC’s site:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sport/football/265903.stm  which came with the very English headline, “More bad karma for Hoddle.”

Here’s a link to very a interesting post by Tullian Tchividjan, a conservative Christian leader and Senior Pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., as well as the grandson of Billy Graham.  I might not agree with everything he says, but he’s definitely a fellow traveler on the way.

Sermon for the Third Sunday in Lent — 23 March

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman at the Well in Sychar

I recently preached on this text because of the anomalies of the two different lectionaries for Sundays and Wednesdays.  If you’re interested in that sermon you can see it and hear it here.

Note the shape of the well. What I like about this icon, is that the artist has clearly understood this conversation between Jesus and the woman to be about what He has come to do for her and the the way she will receive the benefit of it, through baptism.
